Public comments are requested on the 5-year update of the Hallandale Beach Floodplain Management Plan, which assesses existing flooding issues and recommends specific activities to be undertaken to fulfill the City’s flood mitigation goals. The public is invited to attend a virtual meeting to provide comments and share feedback on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 6:00 – 7:00 PM.
The Floodplain Management Plan Update will be developed by a Committee, comprised of residents, stakeholders, and City staff. The plan will be developed using FEMA’s 10-step planning process:
1. Organize to prepare the plan
2. Involve the public
3. Coordinate with other agencies
4. Assess the hazard
5. Assess the problem
6. Set Goals
7. Review possible activities
8. Draft an action plan
9. Adopt the plan
10. Implement, evaluate and revise
