The City of Hallandale Beach continues to be in the Hurricane Irma recovery phase. Below is a bulletin update of our efforts:
Power Status
FPL has been actively replacing transformers and light poles across the City. Residents may contact FPL directly at 1-800-4OUTAGE (1-800-468-8243) or visit https://www.fplmaps.com, to check on the status of power outages. FPL representatives have advised that they expect to have most of City residents’ power restored by close of business Friday.
The Police Lobby and City Hall Lobby are open and additional power extensions have been added for the public to power and recharge their electronics.
Public Safety
A total of 46 sworn Police personnel are actively deployed throughout the City. No major incidents have been reported by the Police Department.
The City sent one rescue unit to provide support for decompression missions in the Florida Keys. While we are recovering, our neighbors suffering is extensive and we need to help. They will be deployed for a period of seven days. Decompression means that our people relieve local fire/rescue personnel.
Additional traffic signals have come online. We will continue to work with Broward County to have all traffic signals and stop signs available. Please treat all non-working traffic signals as a four-way stop. Traffic signals flashing red are to be treated as a stop sign. Flashing yellow traffic signals mean you may proceed slowly with caution. Again, please be courteous and cautious.
EOC
The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will be demobilizing at close of business (5pm) on Friday, September 15th. Once the EOC demobilizes callers may contact the individual Departments within the City for their concern(s).
We are extremely grateful to the volunteer Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.), who helped us answer calls, keep the public informed and serve hot meals for the field crew employees. If you would like more information on volunteering with C.E.R.T. please visit: www.cohb.org/cert
Utilities
All boil water notices have been lifted. The Finance Department is waiving late fees and shutoffs for the water bills until the end of September.
Garbage Pickup
Garbage collection for multi-family and residential units continues being performed and should be back to normal schedule by this weekend.
Debris Cleanup
Crews continue to pick up vegetative storm debris across all areas of the City. Vegetative storm debris (tree limbs, leaves, branches) can be placed in the right-of way in front of your property, not on the pavement as that will impede ongoing restoration activities. We ask for residents not to bag the vegetative storm debris. Any debris placed within bags will not be picked up.
Please keep the vegetative debris in a separate pile from all other wastes. Also, please keep the storm drains clear of storm debris. Non-vegetative storm debris (roofing materials, boards and construction material) must be kept in your yard and will be picked up later. A new post will be made as soon as we learn the exact dates and schedule for picking up non-vegetative hurricane debris. When we begin picking up the non-vegetative debris, customers will need to move it to the swale.

Development Services
Fees have been waived for permits for emergency small repairs related to storm damage. For more information, visit www.cohb.org/emergencyrepair.

Street sweeping crews continue to work in full force.
Public Meetings have been rescheduled to the following dates:
• September 18, 2017 at 5:05 PM – First Budget Hearing – Special Meeting
• September 25, 2017 at 5:05 PM – Final Budget Hearing – Special Meeting
• September 27, 2017 at 5:00 PM – Special City Commission Meeting followed by a
Special Meeting of the HBCRA Board of Directors.
