City Monitoring Tropical Storm Fred

Tropical Storm Fred formed in the Caribbean Tuesday night, strengthening from a disturbance.  By Friday into early next week, heavy rainfall associated with Fred will impact Florida and parts of the Southeast. Through Monday, 3 to 5 inches of rain is anticipated across the Keys and southern Florida peninsula, with isolated maximum totals of 8 inches. Heavy rainfall could lead to flash, urban, and small stream flooding, along with possible rapid river rises.

There is an increasing risk of wind and rainfall impacts in Florida beginning Friday night or early Saturday in the Keys and spreading northward through portions of the Peninsula and the Panhandle Saturday through Monday. Interests throughout Florida should monitor Fred's progress and check updates to the forecast.

The City of Hallandale Beach will continue to prepare for and monitor the storm.  In an abundance of caution, City crews are preparing for potential rain-flooding, storm surge, and wind hazards.

At this time, residents are reminded to review their emergency plans and ensure storm readiness and essential supplies are on hand.  Keep an eye on local news and ensure areas around your home are clear of debris and loose materials.

CITY UPDATES

All City Park facilities including our beaches will remain open until further notice. 

Garbage/Sanitation/ Bulk Trash pickup will continue on the regular schedule until further notice.  

Residents are reminded to keep areas clean to minimize clogged drains and projectiles during the storm.

Mini-Bus Shuttle service will remain in normal operation until further notice.  However, conditions are being monitored and the buses will stop running when conditions are no longer safe.

There is no sand bag distribution scheduled.  Residents are reminded it is illegal to remove sand from the beach.  Please plan ahead and visit your local home improvement store for bags and sand or a suitable alternative.
