Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling Drop-Off

This Saturday from 8 am until noon, please bring your household hazardous waste and electronic waste to the Department of Public Works (630 NW 2nd Street). The City offers this drop-off event on a Quarterly Basis.

The improper disposal of household hazardous wastes can cause holes in the lining of landfills, thus contaminating the nearby ground and water with hazardous materials. Please make sure you bring them to our drop-off event so they can be disposed of properly to avoid these issues.

The following items will be accepted:

  • Cleaning chemicals and/or cleaning chemical containers
  • Used motor oil
  • Fertilizer
  • Herbicide
  • Insecticide
  • Fuel
  • Household batteries
  • Tire (limit 4)
  • Paint (limit 4 gallons)
  • Paint thinner
  • Electronics such as laptops, computers, and appliances.

Get involved and share your ideas!

So far we have heard from our residents that they want fruit trees planted in public right of ways, electric vehicle charging stations, fix-it-fairs to help people learn how to repair goods, net-zero building code, and more beach clean-ups. What would you like the City and our community to do to reduce our carbon emissions and improve our community? Share your ideas, opinions, complaints, etc at www.haveyoursayhallandale.org or click the photo below.

City of Hallandale Beach gets a "B" from CDP International

CDP is a not-for-profit charity that runs the global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states, and regions to manage their environmental impacts. After completing our first Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventory this year, we disclosed our emissions and resilience activities to CDP. CDP rates entities on a D- to A scale, similar to grades in school but starting with a "D" for simply disclosing and "A" for exemplary leadership. This grade is based on responses to a lengthy questionnaire.  We're happy to announce that in our first year of disclosing, we were given a final score of a "B".

The Sustainability & Flood Mitigation Advisory Board assists the City Commission to identify and recommend affordable strategies associated with sustainability, climate change, and flood mitigation. This Board works directly with the City's Green Initiatives Coordinator.

Because what we do now impacts future generations, we have designed this Advisory Board to include participation from youths who either live in Hallandale Beach or go to school in Hallandale Beach. There are currently 2 open positions on this Board which are held for individuals who are under the age of 18. There are additional spaces open for adults who wish to get involved and participate!
