Citizens’ Government Academy

Do you want to know how we keep our City functioning daily?

If yes, then the Citizens’ Government Academy will be great for you to get a
behind-the-scenes look at Hallandale Beach government, meet staff and tour City facilities.
Citizens’ Government Academy is a free, multi-week program to familiarize residents and business owners with the City of Hallandale Beach government. The Program will offer participants with informational seminars that will offer a hands-on activity, speakers, participant discussion, and networking opportunities for participants.

You will be able to:

  • Meet the City Manager’s and City Attorney’s office staff
  • Understand how taxpayers’ dollars are spent and the budget cycle
  • Tour the Police Station and see Public Safety Equipment up close
  • Learn about development taking place around your community
  • See how Hallandale Beach Code Compliance is keeping #HBClean
  • Get a first-hand look at CRA revitalization and development
  • See how you may engage via engagement tools and MyHB app


Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be a Hallandale Beach resident or business owner
  • Be interested in enhancing neighborhood advocacy and
  • Complete and submit the program application
  • Attend 6 of 7 sessions to graduate

  • January 28, 2020 City Commission, City Manager’s Office, City Attorney & City Clerk
  • February 11, 2020 Finance, Budget, and Procurement
  • February 25, 2020 Police & Fire Rescue Services
  • March 24, 2020 Development Services (Building, Code, P & Z)
  • March 31, 2020 CRA and Human Services
  • April 14, 2020 Parks and Recreation & IT
  • April 28, 2020 Public Works and Tour of Water Treatment Plant
