Mayor Joy Adams has the unique perspective of being part of the fabric of this community for more than two decades. She’s a local business owner who understands the challenges small businesses face. She is also a veteran of the hospitality and tourism industry. She holds the distinction of being the 4th female Mayor in the city’s history.
Before venturing into public service, the Mayor was a community activist, serving as the past President of her Condo Association, head usher at her church, and a Martial Arts instructor and mentor to dozens of local children. Mayor Adams is very proud of her participation and civic activities, which include the Disabled Children’s Advocate, Kiwanis, March of Dimes, the Police Athletic League (PAL), the American Cancer Society, St. Mathews Church Festival, and the Hallandale Beach Police Unity Tour.
Mayor Adams is committed to representing the City of Hallandale Beach in a positive light. She is a vocal advocate for creating and maintaining an atmosphere of respect for all employees and residents of the City. Mayor Adams will work to help create a civil and approachable City Commission, where all members of the community will be heard and know our City priorities align with their needs. As a 24-year resident of Hallandale Beach, Mayor Adams has insight and institutional knowledge. She invites every resident to join her for a new day in Hallandale Beach with stepped up civic engagement where the residents come first.
