The Accounting Division handles payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable. State law requires that all general-purpose local governments publish each fiscal year a complete set of financial statements presented in conformity with general accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and have an audit perform in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards by a licensed certified public accounting firm. Pursuant to that requirement, this division issues the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the City. The City of Hallandale Beach has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the past 29 years.
The functions of the Utility division include accounting for the utility funds, processing water, sewer, sanitation, storm water, fire inspection and fire line rental bills, and researching and responding to customer inquiries and complaints regarding billing and service.
