FREE HIV/AIDS TESTING
The Department in partnership Care Resource provides free testing for HIV/AIDS. Testing is done the first and third Wednesday of every monty from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. This service is provided in a safe and private environment to ensure that the individual right’s and privacy are upheld. No appointment necessary. For more information, please call (954) 457-1460.

FOOD PROGRAMS
The Human Services Department offers two Food Distribution programs that provide temporary assistance to residents of Hallandale Beach.   Food Pantry - The Hepburn Center houses a food pantry consisting of canned items, staple foods and meats available to those in need. The pantry is open Monday through Friday, but you must see a Social Worker before receiving any food. Individuals are interviewed to ensure they meet eligibility requirements.  The Center accepts donations from individuals, groups/organizations, and businesses.  USDA Monthly Food Distribution Program - This is a Federal entitlement program that provides food items to individuals and families the first Wednesday of each month from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Hepburn Center. You must pre-qualify through an interview process and be registered for the service.  For additional information or appointments call (954) 457-1460.

LEGAL AID SERVICES
The Human Services Department has a partnership agreement with Broward County Legal Aid to provide free legal services to residents. Legal Aid requires individuals to meet certain eligibility guidelines in order to receive services. Appointments are available on Tuesdays at 9:30 am, 10:30 am and 11:30 am. You must schedule an appointment in order to receive the service. Call (954) 457-1460.

HEALTH SERVICES
The Department facilitates health screenings, health fairs and community forums at the Hepburn Center on a regular basis.  Memorial Healthcare SystemBroward County Health Department, Nova Southeastern University, Mount Sinai Hospital, Aventura Hospital, Care Resource, and other health service providers collaborate with the City to ensure that comprehensive services are available to community residents.  Most of these services are provided free and a concerted effort is made to reach individuals who are uninsured.

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE
The City provides financial assistance to address emergency or temporary situations for residents in the City of Hallandale Beach who meet the criteria.  Financial assistance is provided for utility payments, rent, mortgage, food, transportation and medical related expenses.  For additional information or appointments call (954) 457-1460.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
The Department in collaboration with the Hallandale Police Department has a partnership agreement with Women in Distress to provide individual and group support services to women who are victims of domestic violence.  These services are provided in a safe and private environment to ensure that the victims right’s and safety are upheld.  If you are a victim of domestic violence or experiencing difficulty in your home that may lead to violence please call 954-457-1460 or 954-457-1400.

NEIGHBORHOOD EMPLOYABILITY ENHANCEMENT DIRECTIVE (NEED)

Have you exhausted your options and seem to be going nowhere?  Then walk in or call the Human Services Department.

The Neighborhood Employability Enhancement Directive (NEED) is a new service that works directly with residents to find employment.  The Human Services Staff provides workshops, job coaching, job placement and access to vocational training programs.

Services are FREE for Hallandale Beach residents.  You must be currently unemployed.

It starts by dialing (954) 457-1460 or sending an email to and asking for the NEED Program.
