 About
Vice Mayor Alexander Lewy was elected to the Hallandale Beach City Commission in November 2010. Alexander Lewy was born in Sunny Isles Beach, Fl. and is proud of his native Floridian status. Alexander moved to Hallandale Beach, Florida with his family in 1994 and has been  active in the south Florida community from a very early age.

Vice Mayor Lewy understood the investment his community made in him when he was growing up, and strives to give back to that very community. That is why he dedicates his personal time to so many local charities and organizations. Soon after joining Crime Watch in 2006, Alexander was asked to serve as President and quickly revitalized the organization. The Hallandale Beach City Commission recognized Alexander and appointed him to their Human Services Advisory Board in January 2007. Between 2005 and 2010, Alexander served on the Friends of the Hepburn Center Board, the Weed & Seed Steering Committee, and the CERT Command Team.

Vice Mayor Lewy is a founding member of Local Progress: A National Municipal Policy Network. The network was founded in 2012 with elected officials from New York City, Chicago and other large and small municipalities.

Alexander Lewy was elected at the age of 29 and is the second youngest Commissioner in our city’s history and the only Hispanic elected to the City Commission in Hallandale Beach.
