Education Advisory Board

The Education Advisory Board was established pursuant to Resolution 2013-38 on April 3, 2013. 

Voting Members:

1.     Member of a Parent Teacher Organization – Hallandale Elementary School (parent or guardian of a child enrolled within the school)      
2.     Member of a Parent Teacher Organization – Gulfstream Middle School (parent or guardian of a child enrolled within the school)      
3.     Member of a Parent Teacher Organization – Hallandale High School (parent or guardian of a child enrolled within the school)       

1. Mayor Appointment: each Commission member to select one resident who has a background- in education or interest in the field of education
2. Commissioner Appointment (Seat 1): each Commission member to select one resident who has a background in education or interest in the field of education
3. Commissioner Appointment (Seat 2): each Commission member to select one resident who has a background in education or interest in the field of education
4. Commissioner Appointment (Seat 3): each Commission member to select one resident who has a background in education or interest in the field of education
5. Commissioner Appointment (Seat 4): each Commission member to select one resident who has a background in education or interest in the field of education

Advisors to the Board:

1. Representative from Hallandale Adult Education Center
2. Superintendent of Broward Schools, or his designee

The Mission of the Board:

The Education Committee shall provide guidance and awareness of educational issues and concerns to the City Commission including issues relating to educational matters that will impact the quality of education for city residents or that will impact educational facilities located within the City of Hallandale Beach.

Goals and Objectives of the Education Advisory Board:

• The Board shall work to improve interaction among school officials, the City of Hallandale Beach, business, and community members.
• The Board shall contact local businesses within the City of Hallandale Beach for professional skills, materials, financial or educational support for schools.
• The Board shall coordinate the activities of the City of Hallandale Beach with those activities of the schools within the City in order to enhance educational opportunities for residents of the City.
• The Board shall develop recommendations to the City Commission regarding actions which may be taken in support of educational facilities and programs within the City of Hallandale Beach, including,but not limited to, proposed legislation at the local, state and federal level.
• The Board shall perform such other duties as may be assigned by the City Commission from time to time.
