The Department of Public Works, Utilities and Engineering provides vital services to the Community.  This Department assures that the City's main infrastructures are maintained and upgraded on regular basis.

Public Works Division
The Public Works Division provides several services to the residents of  Hallandale Beach. The services are provided through Sanitation Services, Landscape/Grounds Maintenance and Construction Staff.

Sanitation services include the residential garbage and recyclable collection services, bulk and yard waste collection services; and commercial garbage collection services. Landscape/Grounds and Construction services include the maintenance of the City streets, City public  buildings and facilities and physical operation of the Cemetery. Each division has additional programs to offer to the community related to their areas of work.

In addition, the Public Works Division oversees the City Fleet Service which maintains the City’s vehicles and equipment.

Utilities Division
The Utilities Division coordinates water plant activities for water production, treatment and distribution.  It ensures the needs of City for potable water and fire protection are met continuously.  This Division also ensures the sanitary collection and disposal of waste-water throughout the City.   This Division also ensures that storm drains are kept clean and oversees the continuous monitoring, sampling, testing and survey work to comply with mandatory Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards set forth by the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) regulations.  Many of the division's activities are performed under the guidance of the Engineering Division which offers technical and field support for special projects and Capital Improvement Projects (CIP).

Engineering Division
The Engineering Division is responsible for designing, providing engineering support and conducting field engineering for environmental, water, sewer, storm-water drainage, building and structural construction and other Public Works projects and programs.  This division ensures that technical competence and compliance with all current codes and criteria.  This division is also responsible for managing and overseeing the City's Capital Improvement Projects (CIP)

The Engineering Division responds to inquiries relative to engineering procedures on specific projects; it addresses concerns and complaints of City residents and property owners on the Division's specific areas of responsibilities.
