SUBJECT:     Resolution Opposing the Legislation by the United States Congress Referred to as The Public Employer-Employee Cooperation Act of 2009 (HR 413) that would Federalize Labor Relations with Public Safety Employees CR# 136/09 & CAD #008/09

PURPOSE:

The City Commission adopt a resolution opposing HR 413 that would oppose federalizing labor relations with Public Safety Employees.

DISCUSSION:

On August 24, 2009, the City Attorney was directed to draft a Resolution opposing HR 413, wherein Congress is considering legislation that would place the federal government in charge of oversight governing the terms and conditions of public safety employment at the municipal level. 

RECOMMENDATION:

The City Commission adopt the Resolution on September 16, 2009. Attached please find a copy of the proposed Resolution.
