SUBJECT:     An Ordinance of the City of Hallandale Beach, Florida, Amending Chapter 6, Animals, of the City of Hallandale Beach Code of Ordinances And Creating Article III, "Animal Care"; Providing for Conflict, Severability and an Effective Date. CR #064/09 & CAD #013/09

 


PURPOSE:

 

To amend Chapter 6 of the City’s Code of Ordinances by creating Article III, “Animal Care”, in order to regulate the treatment of animals within the City by pet owners and keepers.

 

BACKGROUND:

 

The City Commission at the June 3, 2009 meeting approved on First Reading the attached Ordinance.

 

DISCUSSION

 

Pursuant to Commission directive, staff has revised line 248 (double underlined) to state that all businesses have 30 days from the adoption date of this Ordinance to fully comply with its regulations.

 

Additionally, staff has revised lines 300 and 301 (double underlined) to state “any commercial animal enterprise or pet shop” rather than “the licensee”.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

 

The City Commission adopt the attached Ordinance on Second and Final Reading.
