SUBJECT: An Ordinance of the City of Hallandale Beach, Florida, Amending Chapter 11, Fire Protection and Prevention, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Hallandale Beach and Amending the Existing Chapter; Providing for Conflicts; Providing for Severability; Providing for an Effective Date

PURPOSE:

Consideration of Second Reading of the Ordinance amending chapter 11 of the City Code pertaining to Fire Protection and Prevention. 

BACKGROUND/DISSCUSSION:

On January 7, 2009 the City Commission passed this Ordinance on First Reading and set Second Reading for January 21, 2009. During discussion of the item at First Reading the City Commission requested further research on two items.

The first item pertains to Section 11-18 Marking of ocean side buildings. Upon further review, staff does not recommend any changes to this section. Any provisions regarding size, type or installation of signage may be handled through Administrative Policy, if needed. The second item pertained to the deletion of Article III Removal of Hazardous Substances Section 11-101, Recovery of Costs. After further consideration, staff recommends this section be included as Article II, Removal of Hazardous Substances Section 11-20, Recovery of Costs.

RECOMMENDATION:

The City Commission adopt the Ordinance on Second Reading, as amended, and authorize the appropriate officials to sign.
