CITY OF HALLANDALE BEACH

MEMORANDUM

JC 08-23

DATE:             September 19, 2008

TO:                  D. Mike Good, City Manager

FROM:                       Mayor Joy Cooper

SUBJECT:      A Resolution of the City of Hallandale Beach, Florida, Recognizing The Sacrifices of All Veterans of The United States Of America And Supporting An Exemption From Municipal Parking Fees For Qualified Veterans Within The City

The Florida League of Cities passed and adopted a Resolution acknowledging all veterans of the United States Armed Forces and recognizing the sacrifices they have made protecting the freedom of the United States. The State of Florida currently has several military license plates to honor those veterans who have undertaken extraordinary and difficult tasks for the sake of our country, which include the Ex-Prisoner of War, Medal of Honor, Pearl Harbor Survivor, Purple Heart and Disabled Veteran license plates.  The Resolution encourages Florida municipalities to consider providing an exemption from municipal parking fees to veterans who have been issued one of the special license plates.

I believe the City should support all the veterans of the United States Armed Forces.

I am requesting support of the City Commission by passing the attached Resolution.
