SUBJECT:     Discussion of Posting Beach Safety Flags and Information Boards in Hallandale Beach Areas

I would like to place an item on the May 21, 2008 agenda for discussion of posting safety flags and information boards at all ingress and egress access to our beach, including condominiums. 

Our beaches are a major destination point, and as such we have not only residents but also many visitors coming to our beaches on a daily basis.  Although we have an excellent team of lifeguards and public safety officials stationed in our beaches, I believe we could also add to our safety measures by posting our beaches with flags and public safety information.  These postings would be especially beneficial at the ingress and egress areas, including condominiums, where the public is not as likely to see or talk to our lifeguards.

I believe that as leaders we have the responsibility to protect our residents’ and visitor’s health and safety and these additional measures and information in place will further protect them.  I thank my fellow commissioners for the anticipated support of this most important issue.
