SUBJECT:     Discussion of Establishing a Hallandale Beach Dog Park

I would like to place an item on the May 21, 2008 agenda for discussion of establishing a Hallandale Beach Dog Park. 

This subject has been brought forth by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.  Additionally, I have been approached by many residents requesting that the City establish a facility that will provide open space and a gathering place for dog lovers.  Accordingly, I would like for staff to research the minimum requirements and the feasibility of establishing a dog park within Hallandale Beach.  As our demographics continue to change, I believe we could establish a dog park on a trial basis and, should the facility accommodate the users’ needs, keep same open on a permanent basis.
