The Code Enforcement Advisory Committee meets monthly on the second Thursday of every month at 3:00 P.M. The Committee is made up of seven members.  There is currently one vacant seat on the Committee awaiting an appointment.

PURPOSE OF COMMITTEE

The Code Enforcement Advisory Committee’s purpose is to work with the Code Enforcement Staff and provide input from the Community to help develop ideas to improve the Code Enforcement process.

The Committee reviews City codes and gives recommendations for amendments and improvements.

The Committee fosters communication between the City and the Community and helps to educate the residents concerning the City codes and City programs that are available.

During the year, the Code Enforcement Advisory Committee viewed a presentation explaining the Master Plan for the City of Hallandale Beach.

The Committee reviewed Chapter 14 - Minimum Property and Occupancy Code and various other Zoning codes and gave recommendations.

After numerous discussions, the Code Enforcement Advisory Committee decided that the Committee should focus on additional matters that would be more beneficial to the City.

On January 10, 2008, the Code Advisory Committee voted unanimously to      request the City Commission to change the name of the Code Enforcement Advisory Committee to the “Neighborhood Advisory Committee”.

The Committee would like to be able to extend their duties beyond reviewing codes by doing the following:

1) Review new Ordinances and Amendment drafts as completed by Staff and submit comments and recommendations.

2) Make suggestions for improvement of the City.  Address complaints and concerns from residents and business owners and formulate ideas to resolve those issues with the appropriate Divisions within the City.

3) Facilitate communication between the City, residents and business owners to insure that everyone’s voice is heard.

4) Formulate ideas to promote education within the community as it pertains to Programs, Ordinances and City Services.

The following committee members resigned from the Code Advisory Committee: Edward Faircloth, William E. “Bert” Abell, Rev. Joe Johnson and Jerry Natelson.

The current members of the Code Enforcement Advisory Committee represent residents of various sections of the City.
