SUBJECT:     Ordinance Amending Article V, “Towing,” in Section 28-171, “Powers of the City” in the Code of Ordinances

PURPOSE:

To adopt an Ordinance on First Reading amending Article V, “Towing,” in Section 28-171, “Powers of the City” in the Code of Ordinances.

DISCUSSION:

An ordinance amending Article V, “Towing,” in Section 28-171, “Powers of the City” in the Code of Ordinances is necessary to effectuate the implementation of the City’s parking meter and permitted parking program.  The amendment will give the City the power to tow or otherwise address vehicles not authorized in permitted parking.  An Administrative Policy shall stipulate the requirements and procedures associated with a parking meter and permitted parking program.

RECOMMENDATION:

The City Commission adopt the Ordinance on First Reading and schedule Second Reading of the Ordinance for November 19, 2008 at 7:30 p.m.
