Traffic Update
In an attempt to improve traffic flow, a test will be conducted by changing how the traffic signal works on Hallandale Beach Boulevard at its intersections with Dixie Highway and NE 1st Avenue. The new traffic signal timing will roughly double the amount of time the green lights are on for Hallandale Beach Boulevard traffic. To accomplish this, a dedicated left turn lane from eastbound Hallandale Beach Boulevard turning north onto Northeast 1st Avenue will be created. As a result, eastbound Hallandale Beach Boulevard will be reduced from three lanes to two lanes beginning at approximately Southwest 2nd Avenue and the dedicated left turn lane would begin at Southwest 1st Avenue. Hallandale Beach Boulevard will return to three lanes east of Northeast 1st Avenue. No lane changes westbound Hallandale Beach Boulevard will be implemented.

New signs will be installed to guide motorists through the area. The trial will be evaluated over the course of several weeks; and if it proves to move traffic more smoothly along Hallandale Beach Boulevard, ways to make the test permanent will be explored.

The new traffic pattern will be evaluated for 90 days. For additional information, contact Mr. Jonathan Overton at jonathan.overton@dot.state.fl.us.
